Safety on farms is always important!
The agriculture sector has the
highest accident and fatality rate in Britain and is one of the few sectors which continually hire temporary staff and non-occupational individuals either visiting or living on site.
Farm safety week, hosted by the
Yellow Wellies Foundation, starts Monday 16
th July to raise awareness of the responsibility Farm owners and managers have to ensure the safety of those who work and visit the farm. Hours can pass often working alone and can require heavy manual labour making it important risks and hazards are addressed through regular risk assessments. Health and safety on farms not only mean the physical aspect but also mental wellbeing is just as important.
To make it easier for you to identify the risks HSE has developed an easy risk assessment tool:
What do you need to do to produce a risk assessment?
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has developed a range of tools and guidance to help small and medium-sized businesses understand health and safety. The advice available will help you understand what you do and don’t need to do to avoid unnecessary paperwork and effort.
